How Runlantern handles local information, and what happens when you contact support.

Local information and its purpose

Runlantern processes process names, executable paths, selected command-line identity information, and process-tree CPU counters locally on your device. It uses this information to recognize watched tools and manage guarding sessions.

Activity is an estimate, not an exact task-completion signal. The system interface for reading command lines may also place extra arguments and environment information in a temporary buffer. The current implementation parses identity fields and clears that buffer after parsing.

Preferences and diagnostic logs

Duration choices, watched processes, manual pause, safety protections, and notification settings are stored locally for future launches. You can change these preferences in the app.

Development builds may produce more detailed diagnostic records. Release builds retain error logs that may include a process identifier. macOS manages system-log retention; the app does not promise a single automatic deletion period for those logs.

The app and network access

The current macOS app contains no networking business logic and integrates no advertising or third-party analytics SDK. You do not need an account to use it.

Sending a support email is a separate action. Notifications and login-item features use services provided by macOS.

Visiting this website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes network-request information (such as IP addresses) needed to deliver and protect the site, under its own privacy practices.

These pages load no advertising or third-party analytics scripts. If you switch the appearance manually, a single appearance preference is saved in your current browser. Otherwise, the site follows your system appearance.

Email you send to support

When you write to ac_block@outlook.com, your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to include are used to handle your inquiry and processed through the email provider.

Please include only what is needed to reproduce the problem. Do not send passwords, API keys, or full process environments. These emails are used only to reply to and resolve your inquiry, and are deleted once they are no longer needed for that purpose. You can ask for deletion at any time. Support email is never sold or used for advertising.

Your choices

You can change the watched-process list or turn off Detect AI coding agents in Automation settings to stop agent scanning. Switching the main guarding control off pauses automatic guarding; it does not disable detection.
